Outdoor Locust Wood Adventure Playground At An International Bilingual Kindergarten In Shanghai

Project Case Introduction

This is a kindergarten project by czplay, completed in September 2026.

The design utilizes galvanized steel piping with a faux-wood powder-coated finish alongside locust wood—treated for preservation, air-dried, and finished with multiple coats of eco-friendly paint—to meet the requirement for natural, environmentally friendly materials. It incorporates fundamental play features such as climbing structures, slides, throwing targets, and crawl-through tunnels, while evoking the atmosphere of a forest treehouse and ensuring complete safety.

Featuring a dual-level structure, it accommodates multiple children playing simultaneously and includes an added zip line. Thanks to its inherently stable design, it utilizes a direct-burial installation method; the foundation is reinforced with hardened brickwork rather than additional poured concrete, thereby preserving the integrity of the surrounding lawn.

These two types of log-and-plastic slides are particularly well-suited for sandy or coastal areas; in regions with high salt-spray exposure, simply replacing the hot-dip galvanized pipes ensures a high level of safety.
