Materials And Manufacturing Processes For Dog Park Equipment

Date: | Read: 2

Based on development and production experience through 2025–2026, Pawhaven’s outdoor dog park equipment is categorized into the following types:

1. Pressure-Treated Timber and Wood-Plastic Composite (WPC)
"Treated timber" typically refers to wood (such as pine or "Finnish wood" treated with ACQ) that has been pressure-impregnated with preservatives to meet a C3 durability rating. Because this material is not solid, untreated wood, it may have rough edges or splinters; if not sanded thoroughly, these can hurt a dog’s paws. Furthermore, such wood is prone to cracking after long-term outdoor exposure.
An advantage of this material is its suitability for high-salinity environments, such as coastal areas.
Compared to treated timber, Wood-Plastic Composite (WPC) is better suited for dog parks. It carries no risk of splinters and features built-in anti-slip textures, making it safer and more comfortable for dogs. WPC is available in a variety of colors; it is eco-friendly, rot-resistant, durable, and offers a long service life.

2. Galvanized Steel Framework with PE Paneling and LLDPE Components For Dog Park Outdoor
A galvanized steel frame—finished with a baked-on coating—serves as the primary structural skeleton. The surface is clad in single or multi-layered PE (polyethylene) panels, typically 15–19mm thick. While the PE material contains UV-resistant additives, it may undergo minor deformation under high temperatures; however, the underlying galvanized steel framework ensures structural integrity for outdoor use.
Components such as dog tunnels and slides are also made from plastic, ensuring suitability for long-term use.

3. Aluminum and Specialized Coatings
Due to the complexity of processing aluminum, it is generally reserved for large-scale, batch-produced projects. Pawhaven is currently testing anti-slip granular coatings for these applications.
Additionally, EPDM rubber granules can be applied over suitable steel-structured bases.

Claw print punching process
Pawhaven offers custom laser-perforation services—such as incorporating a client’s logo—on items ranging from waste bins to footbridges.
Using parametric design, we create precise, uniform perforation patterns. This is a unique feature that sets our equipment apart from that of many competitors.

UV Printing Process
UV printing allows for color schemes and designs that cannot be achieved with PE (polyethylene) alone. Through our own R&D, we have ensured excellent adhesion to PE boards, making them suitable for outdoor use—ideal for commercial events involving dogs or brand activations in shopping malls. However, this method is not recommended for long-term, permanent installation in dog parks; for such applications, we suggest using the PE CNC machining process instead.
